Rather than granting you a buddy to breeze through the game with, it sounds like the co-op mode will preserve Returnal’s difficulty, offering the option to experience that challenge with a friend. It can be a punishing game that will put your mastery of its third-person shooting to the test, and this co-op mode looks to change none of that. As with many other roguelikes, Returnal is no walk in the park. If you haven't played the game yet, I suggest you play solo and put it on Hard.Returnal’s take on co-op sounds like a delicate one. Because of the latter, I was unfortunately just glad to get the game over with. In 2022, a "coop" game doesn't save progress for all players? Seriously? That's honestly ridiculous.ĭL2 is a fun game. I was forced to sit through dialogue two or three times because you're unable to skip it unless the whole party wants to. I could deal with the connection issues, but we spend all our time fast traveling to each other because all players need to be together just to open a door or talk to someone, and I found myself sitting around looking at my phone while one of buddy's progresses to the next area because I knew I'd just fast travel once he got there. I just started dropping everything I got for my buddies.Ĭoop is a disaster and unenjoyable. I also stopped caring about loot/rewards after level 6 because none of the drops went above that. When I discovered that, I was mega pissed. After you beat the campaign, THEN difficulty scales, which makes absolutely no sense. Enemy difficulty never scales, so if you decide to power up/prepare by grinding some GRE containers, you're actually so powerful that combat becomes boring. The last 40 out of 80 hours of play was boring as hell. Weapons, crafting, and combat are decent enough.Ĩ0 hours, yes I got my money's worth, no complaint there. I think the parkour and parkour attack mechanics are really rewarding and pretty smooth. Beat the game solo, and another play-through with my buddies is near the end. I did a lot maxed the stamina tree, all but two on the combat tree. Thanks to some days off work I had coming, I was able to dump 80 hours into this game really quick.
